"Bricking" DME's with winkfp - KristjanL - 08-13-2024 Old stuff but here goes. Have bricked 2 Siemens DME's this year with a simple winkfp flash. Have done them multiple times over the past years and never had such an issue. Now every time I try with winkfp, it fails at 0% and the DME becomes unresponsive. First instance was with an MS42 and now a recent one with an MSS54. Exactly the same behaviour. Fortunately made a backup of the MSS54 before first attempt and could easily recover the DME. Flashed it successfully with ISTA-P and got the job done but why am I bricking these DME's? Have tried different standard tools packs with different sp datens, different pc's, on bench, in car, different interfaces (Bimmergeeks k+dcan, icom next, chinese k+dcan) .. always the same. Power supplies are taken care of. Would like to figure out what is causing the issue. Newer ediabas versions not working with older DME's? Only tried packs with 7.3.0 ediabas, never had a 7.6.0 installed nor a newer ista with 7.6.0 has ever been installed on this pc. it's a pc made solely for e-series work with an old ista and running on an up to date win 10. Anyone had similar experiences, have a solution, or an idea? Got it sorted for today but would like to figure out what is causing this. |
