Issue with 2015 328i xdrive 8hp replacement - 15_328ixdrive_tx - 10-30-2025
Hi all
So I have a 2015 328i with he 8hp trans that went out in July with a "drivetrain malfunction" message. Took it to a local shop and they replaced the trans but said I had to take it to the dealer to have it programmed. Towed the thing 80 miles to the nearest dealer and a week later they said that they programmed the trans but that it was a faulty unit. Had to tow the thing back to the shop here and wait 3 weeks for another trans to get installed and decided to try and program it here using ÎŜ†Ä+ and an enet cable. I'm pretty handy with vehicles and computers. Fast forward 2 weeks and I have ÎŜ†Ä+ able to talk to the car and it recognizes that the trans needs programming/coding and even tells me to switch to the programming software to complete the work but when I click on the programming tab it simple tells me to complete troubleshooting steps and wont let me do anything. I really don't want to tow this thing back to the dealer again because I doubt that the outcome will be any different since they already quoted almost $17k for a new trans ($5k more than I paid for the car).
Is there anyone that may be able to shed some light on what I am missing/doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated at this point before I douse this thing in gas and drop a match.

if the trans is used unit from another donor car , none of the free tools you find here on the internet can help you . the Trans has ISN code which has to match the ISN in your FEM module.
There are many people offer 8HP ISN reset service remotely , you need to search.
