BimmerUtility Suggestions/Feedback
#41
Is there a straightforward way to tell what version of Bimmerutility is running on Windows? Android I can just inspect the app in settings but I have no idea whether my installation is up-to-date or not. Running C:\BimmerUtility\BimmerUtility_Updater.exe just says not in update state but doesn't actually make me feel confident the version is correct.

Hello everyone, I have a rather stupid question. I also have BimmerUtility and think the software is really great for my BMW F40. The depth and, above all, the functions for coding, troubleshooting, etc. are fantastic. I actually come from the VW sector, so my question might sound a bit stupid. Is it possible to read the current coding data from the control units with BimmerUtility and save it locally as an Excel, XLS, or other file? So far, I've always connected to the vehicle and gone into the respective STG and viewed the current coding status. It would be much nicer, however, to take a look at it in peace, for example, in the evening, to see what's coded or what can be prepared for the next time. Is such a possibility available? Thank you very much, and have a nice evening.

I coded with BimmerUtility iOS app, and now modules show errors. Maybe my HU version is higher than the app’s data. It would be great if the app could display the data version.

Not sure if this has been requested but it'd be very cool if it was possible to log live sensor values and save them to a CSV in the desktop app. BimmerLink doesn't have all the PIDs available while BimmerUtility seems to have ISTA-level parsing of sensors which is pretty cool. If contribution is accepted, I'd be willing to help as I work in cybersec as C++/.NET engineer and I might have relevant experience.

BU is coding tool , if you want Live data then use diagnostic tool

Bimmerlink is diagnostic tool and can't do coding.
My only advice to all the forum members: always check the forum's updated rules to avoid any warnings or bans.

Overall I love BimmerUtility. One suggestion that I think it could improve it would be the ability to export translated CAFD as you see them on the app, so that we could parse our CAFD to ChatGPT and ask for guidance on changes to achieve specific things that we might not find help on the forums. Currently it only exports them as binary and ChatGPT can't translate them to figure out what options does your CAFD have..
