Can I use this battery in my e90 328i?
#1
Hey everyone,

I'm hoping someone can guide me in the right direction here. I get these Crown 49hd batteries for very cheap through my employer and I'm wondering if these are safe to use in the e90 and which coding options to use for it (I have access to ista and also have the foxwell nt510 - have never had to code/register a battery yet though)?

These are the specs I can find online:

I tried to attach a photo, let me know if it works. Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.

I originally posted this at work, but have had some time to do some research.

So this battery is sized as a BCI group 49, therefore this battery is a 90ah battery?

Assuming that is correct, how would I go about determining what type of battery is coded/registered currently?

Thanks,

Assuming you have a working version of ISTA+ as you mentioned, go to
service functions->body->voltage supply->battery registration and select register battery replacement.

It will tell you what size is currently registered to the car. 90ah is typically the registered type but will need to match AGM or lead acid type. If it does not match the correct style and size, you will need to use ISTA-P to program in the correct battery type. There may be other ways to code it but this is how to do it using ISTA only. I'd be willing to bet it already has a 90ah AGM registered
