PMS ultrasonic sensor replacement F10
#1
Hello, the left PMA sensor is faulty and park assist / pdc won't work.
Found a sensor but it has a different part number than mine has. Does that have to be coded? If so - how?
Thanks

PMA Sensor isn't codable. The sensor has more than one partnumber but is functional the same.

Are you 100% sure ?
My part number is: 66209250881 and the replacement found is 66209232668
Seller has 2 sensors, sold one and said that the buyer had to code it in to work.

I did a couple days of research and couldn't find anything regarding this.

Thanks

This PMA sensor is a non codeable LIN Bus component.
You dont see this sensor in ISTA or ESYS. How should a code work???

I was just double checking as it is not cheap.
And is it normal for none of the normal pdc sensors to work because they share the same module?

What is the Build Date from car? NonLCI has JBE with integrated PDC, LCI has separated PDC.

This is what BMW says.

"Failure of the component
If the parking manoeuvring assistant fails, the following behaviour is to be expected:
Check Control message in the instrument panel
After replacement of the PMA control unit or one of the ultrasonic sensors, no initial start-up is required. However, the control unit checks every time the engine starts if the sensor software is compatible with the control unit software. If they are not compatible, a corresponding fault code is set in the PMA control unit. In this case, the service function Updating Software for Ultrasonic Sensors needs to be run"
