Hi everyone,
Firstly, thanks for the excellent guide. I’ve managed to get much further than I expected, but I’ve hit an issue that I can’t find anyone else reporting. Vehicle: * 2023 G22 M440i xDrive (UK) * Build: 11/2023 * I-Step: S18A-25-07-538 What I’ve done * Successfully injected the 0x17C Remote Engine Start FSC. * Verified in E-Sys that AppID 0x17C = FSCStatus accepted. * Added 1CR to the FA. * Smart Coded the modules selected by BimmerUtility: * BDC_BODY3 * FZD2 * HU_MGU * SM2 Driver * SM2 Passenger The coding completed successfully with no DTCs. Current behaviour This is where it gets interesting. The Remote Engine Start menu now appears in iDrive under Climate Control, and the owner’s handbook section is also present. However, when I try to enable “Start engine for climate control”, I get the legal disclaimer: “The use of Remote Engine Start is governed by various laws. The use of this function might be unlawful. Please check the legal situation before use.” After pressing OK, the toggle remains off in iDrive. What I’ve checked * FSC is accepted. * No fault codes after coding. * Vehicle has been locked and allowed to sleep. * Tried after multiple ignition cycles. * Smart Code completed without errors. Question Has anyone seen this exact behaviour on a late G-series running S18A-25-07-538 (or another recent 2025 I-Step)? If so: * Did you solve it? * Did you need to VO code the same modules again in E-Sys? * Did you have to FDL code additional modules such as IHKA5, DKOMBI8 or DSC_BRS? * Was there another prerequisite I may have missed? I’m planning to repeat the VO coding using E-Sys as a troubleshooting step. Before I do that, I wanted to see if anyone else has already encountered this on the newer software. Any experiences would be appreciated. Thanks. (08-01-2026, 08:25 PM)Yoully Wrote: Hi everyone, Hi man. Personally, even though doing it the way you did is technically the 'logical' approach, I wouldn't have modified the FA. I would have just done manual FDL coding following the PDF manual in the .zip step by step, not VO coding with BimmerUtility. Have you checked if the BU only changed the necessary lines, without adding or missing anything extra? DKOMBI4, IHKA4 and some DSC_BRS_IB must be recoded. I'm planning to try it this week on a G42 M240i, and I'll test both methods to see what happens.
