Hi man.

Personally, even though doing it the way you did is technically the 'logical' approach, I wouldn't have modified the FA. I would have just done manual FDL coding following the PDF manual in the .zip step by step, not VO coding with BimmerUtility. Have you checked if the BU only changed the necessary lines, without adding or missing anything extra?
DKOMBI4, IHKA4 and some DSC_BRS_IB must be recoded.

I'm planning to try it this week on a G42 M240i, and I'll test both methods to see what happens.

Thanks and yeah I did try to edit just the FDLs first but found that BU reported “Coding not possible at this time” on DKOMBI8 & IHKA, also couldn’t find matching parameters on BDC_BODY3. That’s when I thought I’d try the VO and see what if anything changed. 

Unfortunately I’m not going to get to look at it further for the next few weeks due to work .

Hopefully you will have more success and I can follow your lead once I can get back onto it.

So anyone who like me couldn't get RES working on our European models, the fix is finally here.

With E-sys you can load in the FSC. Someone released a python script to generate it for your VIN.

Thanks for the pointer. I think I’ve finally worked out why normal VO coding isn’t enough on newer S18A cars.

After adding 1CR and installing the RES FSC, everything coded except DKOMBI8 and IHKA5. I hadn’t appreciated they’re using secured NCD 2.0.

They require signed NCDs for those modules. I’ve generated a signed NCD package using my modified FA (with 1CR) and SVT Actual, and my next step is injecting those with E-Sys.

If that works, it seems the issue I was seeing was because signed NCDs are needed for (in my case) DKOMBI8 and IHKA5.

I’ll report back once I’ve tested it.
