it can be done with NCS with the help of ncs dummy , but you have to be a Master in NCS to know what you are doing , I don't know and I never done it myself but seen it on bimmerforums once.
Best solution for you is bmw scanner 1.4.0 , problem is this software has it's own OBD-adapter , not expensive though.
