Coding DSP Amp in E38

I have a 2001 BMW 740iL that had a blown amp. I bought a used amp on ebay and I plugged it in and it works for 30 seconds and then turns off. I assume that I have to code the amp to my VIN for it to work. Can someone suggest the best way to do this?
