Goooood Morning ! :-)
I'm a newbie and I've two stupid questions.
I've a X1 F48 (MY 2017) with ENTRY NAV (Europe West map).
During these years I've always payed for map update: I go to official BMW shop online, I buy (once a year) the map (more or less 50€), I download it, I put into an USB stick and I insert it into my car for update. No problem at all.
This year ... surprise ! BMW online Shop says that "update maps are no more available for my car" (!?!?!?)
I phone to BMW and they say to me that for older car, BMW has removed maps from BMW online shop. I need to contact directly my BMW official dealer for update. SGRUNT
I go to the dealer and he says to me "Correct, for older car now maps are free of charge. Give me an USB stick, I download map for your car from BMW Server and I give you back the USB stick with map update and the activation code".
With USB stick the dealer give me a sheet with the "BMW Navigation Map Certificate" : it is a 20 alfanum chars "Release code" and he says to me "This code will be the same for all your future map update, so use it for next update and keep it well stored"
QUESTION 1) Is this correct ? Can I use the same "Release code" code for future map update ?
QUESTION 2) comparing files with SHA256 checksum, the dealer map (my USB stick) is IDENTICAL to your EUROPE -> [ENTRYNAV] Route map -> Europe West ROUTE 2025. In future can I download the map from here instead of going to my BMW dealer (very very far from me) ?
Thanks :-)
