i4 2024 US - > EU
#1
Hello,
I've bought an imported US 2024 BMW i4 in Bulgaria, equipped with the MGU22/HU5 head unit. I’m looking for detailed advice on the following:

VO/FA Coding:
Which VO/FA codes should be changed for full European compatibility (region, radio, telematics, headlights, etc.)? Are there US-specific codes to remove or ECE codes to add? The taillight work is already done by the guy who initially fixed battery issue, even radio frequencies are in place. However the clock cannot be synced and Android auto is not working..

I am already in contact with BMW NA, so i can add the car to myBMW app. However im currently wondering if i should first change FA codes and then wait for OTA updates(are they going to work at all?), since the car software is 2yrs old?

VIN ends with FR82492
Thank you!

1 - This car will be fully converted to ECE .
2 - you can't simply edit FA then code the ECU's , this car uses 2.0 secure coding , so you will need someone to provide you with Secure coding certificate.
3 - Headunit region change is not at easy as older headunits . either an expensive OEM region change FSC's must be orderd from BMW ( over 600€ ) , or headunit Patch where the headunit must be sent to someone for the custom patch and region change .
4 - Connected drive region can't be changed .

Unfortunately none of the above points can be completed by a simple Esys clicks or by software update , you need someone who can offer your secure coding and OEM region change for headunit or custom Patch.
My only advice to all the forum members: always check the forum's updated rules to avoid any warnings or bans.

thanks for the quick reply! Im wondering what they did when adding even radio frequencies so android auto is not able to connect now.. Do you know which CD features will be available in the US myBMW app after i add the car? Will OTA update work eg?
