BMW F25 ambient light 9 colors
#1
We know that some high end F series as F15/F15/ 6 to 8 series have multicolor OEM ambient lighting, some of them are based on BDC ecu which allows to code the ambient lighting to any color (RGB) based on several layer options.
However, for Bmw series (5) or BMW X3 F25 which are based on FRM, the OEM ambient lighting is for two colors (white and orange).

Hi. I have seen in youtube that some guys from vietnam and China (aliexpress store) are selling an aftermarket product for multicolor ambient lighting (9 colors) for BMW F30, F10, F25.

After contacting some vendors, I have understand a bit the principle for adding multicolor ambient lighting (9 color) for BMW 5 (F10) and X3 (F25) (with NBT or NBT evo) that can be controlled by Idrive.
Parts:
Depending on the model, here for bmw X3 F25:
1) they offer a set of RGB leds and plug and play wires for front doors and rear doors (2 lights per door for upper and top sides).
2) Footwell Lights RGB.
3) Modified top door trims (4x)
4) Led Lights module

How it works?
The Led ligh module is composed of 8 pins.  for input signals: 4 pins are installed in parallel to the idrive knob (It also have 4 pin connection) , so it can take: 1)power 2) ground 3) Can high 4) can low. The remaining  4 lines are for output signals: this is a main line with 4 pines (correct me if I am wrong but should be for R G B and ground). the main line has divisions to spread the lights to front doors, rear doors and footwell zone.

The lights can be controlled by Idrive, choosing in the extended menu in the interior light section. with 9 choices: White, Blue, Orange and 6 combinations more (as it is for bmw x5 F15 / X6 F16).

When you select by idrive the color (3x) or color  combination (6x), the led ligh module can read those signs and in this way is produced the multicolor ambient lighting. It means this light module makes the work of BDC (as BMW F25/ F10 are FRM ECu based )

Coding for extended menu in Idrive (to allow the ligh desing menu and to appear 9 color options).
I made a research to look for the parameters to code this but not succed. I found nothing about it. However, accidentally when I was coding my 6wb for F25 I used a FA from F15 an voila the extended menu appeared. So the trick to appear the menu is to use an FA from F15 and make VO coding to headunit  (with your vin of course)or maybe possible by FDL coding but honestly I dont know the parameters.

Anybody, has succed with this retrofit and can share the coding steps to avoid using a different chassis FA for headunit coding?

Thanks in advance for your support.

I have done this on my F10, acording to seller it requires an NBT unit, however i think i remember seeing an option from ambient light in HU_CHAMP2 aswell.

It comes with a decoder you plug in between the loom and the idrive controller and just code in.

Here are pics:

I think you could FDL code extended menu for ambient lighting.
3000 HMI > INDIVIDUAL_AMBIENTELICHT set to active.
However, I did not have the chance to test it.
