New BMW user - coding advice needed

Hi All, 

I've recently bought an i3 and am new to the BMW world.  I previously had a Mercedes A-Class and coded that with their own diag tools and a VXDiag Allscanner.  

I'm looking to code some things into my i3 and can't seem to access some ECU's with the BimmerCode app, so have purchased a ENET cable for the job.  Can someone tell me what application is best to use for this? ISTA?

Also, I need to update my head unit to code the full screen CarPlay, but I've read that updating the car requires the update of all ECU's... can someone tell me what the best way to do this and what I'll need.  I think I might be able to re-use my Allscanner in DoIP mode potentially?

Any help and advice would be great.
