Gearbox issue with R52 2006 Mini Cooper S
#1
Hello,

I have a gearbox issue with my Mini Automatic gearbox, it when the car shifts speeds it is far, far from being smooth.

The garage cleaned the gearbox and change the oil but the problem persists.

After searching on the net I kind of understood that there are 8 solenoids in the gearbox and they need to be changed to solve the problem.

I found a video on Youtube which explains how to change them and it seems quite easy. However, in the video the guy says tat he uses ISTA+ with an ICOM connection to monitor the gearbox oil temperature to remove excess oil when it reaches 40°C. He says that he resets transmission adaptation as well.

So I am here because I have a few questions:

1) Is there a way to get a copy of ISTA (or equivalent maybe) ?
2) What hardware do I need to connect my PC to the OBD of the car ?   I am going to use the software/hardware only once, for this repair, so I would have liked to spend as less as possible here.
3) could somebody guide me to do these tasks ?

Thanks in advance

Charles
