DME/CAS Sync Help E70

2013 E70 X5 DME-CAS Sync Issue

Hello all,
Hoping someone can help me here. I've been having this issue for a while and its bugging me (bought the car used 6 months ago). Runs and Drives Fine. 
I have ProTools and ISTA. Thanks in advanced for the long read.

I try syncing the DME-CAS with ProTools and it errors out.

I located the section in ISTA where the DME-CAS sync should be but its not there, just a dialog explaining what DME-CAS do not the actual action to perform the sync.

I thought I was doing something wrong so I paid a guy $100 to remote in and use my ISTA to do the sync, he came to the conclusion that my ISTA is out of date. I have ISTA 4.32.15, I don't think its so out of date that it would not have the sync function. I'm out $100 I think.. he said he will get back with me.

After this I did more digging and i'm finding maybe my issue has something todo with communication between the control units? Since they aren't communicating properly the sync function isn't showing at all, thats also why Protools errors out?  How would I even begin to troubleshoot this? Both modules register and I can grab the vin on both. I removed the CAS module and inspected the board nothing seems to be wrong.

My car starts and runs fine I have no issues. I just really wanna figure this out.

If your DME is EWS4 type. There is no sync. If the car starts and drives, sync is OK.
