  Unknown gland
Posted by: hsgsuyg76 - 03-23-2025, 11:46 PM - Forum: BMW F / G Series Coding & Retrofits & Diagnostics - No Replies

Hello all,

im retrofitting my G60 tow bar but there are no instructions. When looking at aftermarket wiring kits they are suggesting routing the cables through a gland just in front of the rear right boot storage compartment well (see photo).

Looking at the OEM harness it appears to go through the cable pipe loom on the rear of vehicle, looking at the retrofit guide from the X5 it suggests drilling a 7mm hole through this pipe, cutting the pipe and inserting the cables (this looks like a very difficult/hard access point), almost looks plastic!

I have attached the aftermarket wiring harness guide photos below, anyone have any idea what this gland is meant for, or tips if this isn't the best one to use? If anyone is aware of the size/type of grommet suggested that would be great (will save me butchering the one in there currently).

  ÎŜ†Ä 4.49.2x and PSdZData 4.52.31 problem
Posted by: V3lmu - 03-23-2025, 06:36 PM - Forum: BMW F / G Series Coding & Retrofits & Diagnostics - Replies (3)

Hey! Smile

I installed ÎŜ†Ä version: 4.49.23. I will update the latest PSdZData Full 4.52.31 at the same time. ÎŜ†Ä has been installed, but there are problems with PSdZData. ÎŜ†Ä does not show the "Programming data" version. It only says: n/a. I found instructions by google, how to update PSdZData, but this also caused a problem. The instructions tell me to edit a file that I DO NOT HAVE.

Can this file: ISTA_Reg_Fix_x64.reg be downloaded from somewhere?

ÎŜ†Ä homepage and version information

Are these instructions correct?

Quote:To install PSdZ data on a pre-installed ÎŜ†Ä+ setup, follow these steps:
1. Create the Data Folder:
– Go to the following directory: C:\EC-APPS\ÎŜ†Ä\PSdZ
– Inside this folder, create a new folder named `data_swi`. This is where the PSdZ files will be stored.
2. Unzip and Move PSdZ Files:
– Download the appropriate version of PSdZData (Full or Lite).
– Unzip the PSdZData package.
– Move all the extracted contents into the `data_swi` folder: C:\EC-APPS\ÎŜ†Ä\PSdZ\data_swi
3. Modify the ÎŜ†Ä Registry File:
– Find the file `ISTA_Reg_Fix_x64.reg` in your ÎŜ†Ä installation directory.
– Open it using a text editor (like Notepad).
4. Update the SWIData Version:
– In the file, search for the following line: “SWIData” = “4.39.20”
– Replace `4.39.20` with the version number of the PSdZData you are installing. Make sure it matches your version.
5. Apply the Registry Fix:
– Save the changes to the `ISTA_Reg_Fix_x64.reg` file.
– Run the `.reg` file by double-clicking it, and confirm any prompts to update the Windows registry.
6. Verify in ÎŜ†Ä+:
– Launch ÎŜ†Ä+ and check the programming tab to confirm that the PSdZ data has been properly installed and is available for use.
With these steps completed, ÎŜ†Ä+ should now be able to use the new PSdZ programming data for coding and programming tasks.

Why would you update BMW software like ÎŜ†Ä or ėšÝ§?
Posted by: DieOfenfrische - 03-23-2025, 12:28 PM - Forum: BMW F / G Series Coding & Retrofits & Diagnostics - Replies (4)

Hi everyone

I have some questions regarding the versions of BMW software. What is actually the reason to update?

So here is what I know and understood:

ÎŜ†Ä:

  • sqlite db: actually comes with the main program and can not be updated separately. What’s the reason to update this and ÎŜ†Ä main program? Is this the data which includes the workshop manuals and stuff?
  • psdzdata_lite/BLP: can be updated separately. Why would you do this? Whats the advantage when you use it with ÎŜ†Ä?
  • psdzdata_full/SDP: can be updated separately. Will have newer flashing data for modules. No questions…

Assuming I want to perform diagnostics on a car which has most resent I-level. If I do not using most recent psdzdata, can I still read codes from the car using ÎŜ†Ä? Or do I have to update my psdzdata_lite?

ėšÝ§:
Also uses psdzdata. Data can be shared between ÎŜ†Ä and ėšÝ§. Old ėšÝ§ can be used with newer psdzdata.
Why would you update the main program (ėšÝ§) when you can update the coding data (psdzdata) separately?

E83 Chassis DSC Lamp LWS ID Falsch
Posted by: tvrnut - 03-23-2025, 11:12 AM - Forum: New Member Intro - Replies (1)

Hello

Im joining the forum because I recently inherited my first BMW.
A 2006 Gen 1 X3 E83 with 114K miles.
It is very well maintained and in excellent condition.
I have performed all critical 100K mile PM replacement components.

I currently have ONE fly in the ointment that I have put dozens of debugging hours on:

A possible "self Induced" problem that caused the DSC lamp to come on after using PASoft 1.40 to reset my transfer case after changing oil and putting in a new plastic gear as a preventative action.

BMW Tools ÏÑÞÀ is finding:

DSC (DXC8) module = 5EB3 = Received ID not equal to last calibration

LEW (SAS) module = 0B LWS ID Falsch

LWS EEPROM has CHECKSUM error 2C48

Live Analog DATA status:

Steering angle reads 0 deg with straight ahead alignment, wheel sensors respond normally.

If I clear the two codes and start the car from the ignition on position and drive a few hundred feet the DSC lamp goes off.
I can drive around for hours and the DSC lamp stays out.

Once the ignition is turned off for more and 5-10 seconds the DSC lamp comes on again at next start up.
Im guessing this is a boot up initialization test of DSC system finding what may be "latched soft faults"?

The LEW EEPROM file has the correct last 7 VIN characters in the FGSTNR field and 00 plus last 4 vin numbers in ADFG filed.
Line 0x90 has 2C48 in end column.  I can read and write the EEPROM file using PASoft 1.40

I beleive the issue is that the process for calibrating the steering angle involes SAS (LEW) module coding before calibration.
This is why any attempt I make to recalibrate the steering angle with my XTOOL or Foxwell scanner fails "unsuccesful".
This may be some form of software lockout designed to prevent a novice from perfroming "dealer level" maintanence?

I was trying to use Tool32 to recalculate the EEPROM to clear the CHECSUM error but hit anaother dead end.
I cannot find DSC_E83.prg file in my C:\EDIABAS\ECU folder.
Seems that there may be a file support "donut hole" for my car which has a 6/6/06 production date.

I am ready to cry UNCLE on this problem. I can tear down and rebuild any mechanical part of a car.
I own and drive classic cars and trucks that are not idiot proof but can be maintained by an idiot.

Last resort will be to disable DSC and block out the warning lamp with electrical tape.

Any advice from forum mambers would be highly appreciated.

Kind Regards

TVRNUT

  ÎŜ†Ä 4.50.40 version issues
Posted by: patrickcheung - 03-22-2025, 10:01 PM - Forum: BMW F / G Series Coding & Retrofits & Diagnostics - Replies (2)

Hi everyone, I have a question. In version 4.50.40
After I used ISTA_Reg_Fix_x64_Full.reg
Correct PSdZData 4.50.40 Full programming data has been put in data_swi
I have tried many times!
All EDIABAS and ÏçØɱ connections are unusable. Pressing a connection will cause the connection to crash.
How to solve this problem???
But I used ISTA_Reg_Fix_x64_Diag_Only.reg and there was no problem and everything could connect

Posted by: XALLECS - 03-22-2025, 09:53 AM - Forum: BMW F / G Series Coding & Retrofits & Diagnostics - No Replies

Hi there ,

Does anyone have done retrofit for the Lci Headlights 2023 on a model of 2019 ?
Headlights use the same wiring diagram and both can be coded with date 03/19 or 02/23
the only difference is when use the 03/23 date ÎŜ†Ä will prompt you to use the matrix led adaptation ABL
whit the date 0319 there is no such thing bcs on that date it was not available this feature .
Afther coding the headlight work on one beam on right and left and the turn lights is made with icon lights and
high beam with the turn lights some kind of incorect actuation .
there are 13 erors on ÎŜ†Ä for the calssificator resitor and temperature sensors .
If someone have a clue of what si wrong please make a comment .

  G60 Towbar retrofit HELP!
Posted by: hsgsuyg76 - 03-21-2025, 08:27 PM - Forum: BMW F / G Series Coding & Retrofits & Diagnostics - Replies (5)

Hello all! Hope you are well! I’m retrofitting a towbar on my I5 and have been left perplexed by BMW’s inclusion of a 5 terminal splicer. Looking at the wiring diagram there doesn’t appear to be any splicing required, but is strange to have included it as all the other items are in exact numbers. Cable is full length and able to reach BCP (for turn signal) and Brake light, so can’t be for that. Power is provided by new fuse terminals provided in kit. Just wondering if I could get some help if anyone is aware/experienced in fitting on this model - as expected, the dealer is ‘unable’ to provide the instructions and they’re not on ÎŜ†Ä/AIR - or in the additional electrical box!

If anyone has access to genuine AOS and is able to find retrofit instructions it would be so greatly appreciated! I have tried to look on the US bmwtechinfo but no luck on there either.

Part number for additional electrics (retrofit kit): 71605B542E6
Part number for towbar: 5A92851
Part number for trailer control unit: 63115A64D38
