G01 full screen CarPlay help

Hi everyone,
I have a 2018 X3 G01 with CarPlay, but it’s not running in full screen. My current media software version is MB-006.001.044, and I’d like to update iDrive using E-Sys.
From what I understand, I need to update the iDrive software first. I already have a laptop with several BMW tools installed, but I’m pretty sure some of them need updates.
Can someone help me with this? Or maybe share some benefits of updating the iDrive system?
