  Invalid ecu bus in vcm
Posted by: nic730 - 08-14-2025, 06:49 AM - Forum: BMW F / G Series Coding & Retrofits & Diagnostics - No Replies

Hello,
I've recently bought a F01 730d built in 2009 and I'm trying to update the i-step to something current so that I can retrofit a Combox.
From what I can tell, the car has been updated to i-step F001-10-09-521 sometime in 2011.

When reading out the current svt with ėšÝ§ I noticed that the ecuBusConnectionInfo and looks invalid for some modules, for example LRR and EGS:

read ECU:

Quote:LRR:
<ecuBusConnectionInfos>
                <ecuBusConnectionInfo busID="6" busType="S_CAN"/>
</ecuBusConnectionInfos>

EGS:
<ecuBusConnectionInfos>
                <ecuBusConnectionInfo busID="4" busType="FA_CAN"/>
                <ecuBusConnectionInfo busID="17" busType="A_CAN"/>
 </ecuBusConnectionInfos>
read VCM:
Quote:LRR:
<ecuBusConnectionInfos>
                <ecuBusConnectionInfo busID="255" busType="UNKNOWN"/>
</ecuBusConnectionInfos>

EGS:
<ecuBusConnectionInfos>
                <ecuBusConnectionInfo busID="4" busType="FA_CAN"/>
                <ecuBusConnectionInfo busID="23" busType="ETHERNET_26"/>
</ecuBusConnectionInfos>

I can also see in ÎŜ†Ä+ that the LRR module is not connected to any bus in the module tree, so ÎŜ†Ä seems to work based of the vcm info i guess.

Both ėšÝ§ and ÎŜ†Ä+ are able calculate an update plan, however.

What would be the recommended way to proceed from this point?
Do the update in ÎŜ†Ä+ and hope that it fixes everything, or maybe do it manually in ėšÝ§?

I have an ÏçØɱ clone including genuine ÏçØɱ b and enet cable as well.
Thanks for your help Smile

  KDCAN doesnt work with ÎŜ†Ä/ÏÑÞÀ
Posted by: xednx - 08-13-2025, 08:19 PM - Forum: BMW E Series Coding & Retrofits & Diagnostics - Replies (8)

Hello,
I’ve encountered a problem and I’m not sure how to solve it. I recently started getting into and using ÎŜ†Ä/ÏÑÞÀ diagnostics for E/F/G series BMW vehicles. With the F/G series and an ENET cable, there are no issues at all – ÎŜ†Ä works exactly as it should. However, with the E series it’s a bit of a mystery. When using a K+DCAN cable with an E series car in ÎŜ†Ä, it either works partially or doesn’t work at all.
In my case, ÎŜ†Ä sometimes reads the E series vehicle data immediately and works normally, but other times it’s the opposite – every time it asks me to enter the vehicle VIN, and it all ends there, showing only the vehicle’s information. It’s not possible to read faults or select control units; the only option is to click “start vehicle test” and that’s it.
ÏÑÞÀ behaves similarly – sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t respond at all. I’m using ÎŜ†Ä version 4.39.20 (as far as I know, the latest version that still supports the K+DCAN interface via Ediabas). All drivers are installed, including runtime, vcredist, Java, and the K+DCAN cable’s FTDI drivers. In Device Manager, the COM port is set correctly with 1ms latency. In ediabas.ini, the interface is set to

Code:
STD:OBD
, and in obd.ini the correct COM port is also selected.
I prepared two laptops for my friends with identical setups, but for them, ÎŜ†Ä with E series cars practically doesn’t work at all – it stops right after asking for the VIN. ÏÑÞÀ doesn’t respond either, not even showing battery or ignition status. I would suspect faulty cables, but it’s unlikely – I bought three of them, and the chance that all are defective is extremely low. The seller is reputable.
On the laptops I prepared for my friends, as expected, F/G series cars with ENET work perfectly.
The cable has a switch that changes the 7-8 pin connection; I thought the issue might be related to that, but the result is exactly the same in both positions.

Thank you for your help..

  PSdZExtractor v1.3 Tool for reducing PSdZData according to SVT

PSdZExtractor v1.3

What does PSdZDataExtractor do?
It creates a reduced PSdZData Lite including all the programming data for all the ECUs in your motorcycle or car. This way, you will go from having a PSdZData that takes up about 300GB of disk space to having only the data you need, taking up much less than 500MB in motorcycles and slightly more in cars.

What do I need?
- We need to have a FULL PSdZData in order to extract all the software to program the ECUs of our motorcycle or car.
- We need a backup copy of the SVT.xml or SVT_IST.xml file. To get it, we need to connect the motorcycle or car, read our ECUs and save it.
- 7zip installed on your system.

It has only been tested with motorcycle SVT. If you encounter any problems with its use, please report them in this thread.

  I3 SME coding
Posted by: LB2020 - 08-09-2025, 03:58 PM - Forum: BMW F / G Series Coding & Retrofits & Diagnostics - Replies (1)

Hi, need assistance with coding a used battery pack to a BMW i3.

Replaced my 60ah with a 120ah and need to match the new SME to my car. I have ėšÝ§ and the same PSDZdata as what is already on my car. The 120ah battery is on a older software version than my car.

I have found 2 solutions that I think may work but not 100%.

Option 1. Detect CAF for SWE for SME then update with latest software

Option 2. Use tool32 to read old SME ISN and copy to new SME.

Am I looking at the right options or is there more to be done?
