Hello everyone,

I’m working on a BMW X1 F48 and need advice from anyone experienced with module swaps and VIN/coding issues.

Here’s the situation:

• I replaced the ECU (DME), FEM, and key fob with a matched set from a donor vehicle.
  
• The car starts and drives fine, but there are problems:
  
  
  • The instrument cluster (KOMBI) shows errors and doesn’t function properly.
    
  • The NBT/iDrive system starts but navigation and other functions don’t work.
    
  • There is a clear VIN mismatch, likely causing communication and coding issues.
    
  • I also cannot use the key fob to lock/unlock, and the driver window doesn’t work.
    
  
  

• Installed and working with ė-šÝ§ 3.40.2
  
• Using PSdZData Lite
  
• Tried Tool32 (only has FEM_20.prg)
  
• Have original FA loaded
  
• Can read SVT, but modules still show donor VIN
  

1. Is it possible to restore the original VIN to the ECU and FEM using Tool32 or BimmerUtility?
   
2. After changing VIN, what modules (like HU_ENTRYNAV or KOMBI) also need to be coded?
   
3. Will I need an FSC patch to get full NBT/iDrive functionality (like Navigation)?
   
4. Would getting a virgin cluster or new NBT be a better solution — or is that unnecessary?
   
5. Is there any risk if I VO-code now while VINs mismatch?
   

Greetings All,

My goal is to retrofit two electric seats into my 2019 F60 S ALL4. I know that, from the factory, they're only available via the ICONIC package. I purchased complete seats from a salvage yard, although they are from two different donor cars.

The driver seat is complete with the memory module. Both appear to have heating, which is already available in my car.

I have begun my journey into ė-šÝ§ and coding features. I think I know the difference between VO Coding vs FDL coding, but I'm still learning. I've watched several of the videos from BimmerDoc on YouTube, plus searching forums like this one. Here's my setup:

ė-šÝ§ Launcher Pro: v2.8.1.155
ė-šÝ§: v3.30.1
PSdZ: v4.53.41 (rel 3/25/2025)

Everything connects and I can read the ECU (SVT) list. I've read, copied, modified, and tried to VO Code the FA List with some 3-digit codes that I think are correct, but the seats don't move. I've also made sure that all fuses are in the correct spot and I believe the wire loom has the correct wires, but I'm not 100% sure.

From the videos, I think I should be seeing SM/SM2 in the SVT list, but those were for various BMWs, not F56 (the connection I use in ė-šÝ§). I don't see either of those in my list.

Questions:

- If the seats are connected correctly, should ė-šÝ§ detect them and show them as SM/SM2 in the SVT list, or do I need to manually "add" them by coding them in?
- I've seen one other guy mention that these should be added to existing REM, BDC_BODY, HC2, SM2 and IHKA3 modules. I'm trying to figure out exactly which modules need to be added/modified/configured.
- Is the existing ECU capable of being modified to accommodate the seat module or would I need one that comes with the ICONIC model?
- Am I missing any other major component that would prevent the seats from being configured?

I realize these are some noob questions, but I haven't been able to discern the answers based on the limited data I've been able to find so far.

Can anyone tell me if my F30 can have enhanced bluetooth audio, i.e. if it's worth coding? My car has USB+AUX (6NH) and a 606 navigation system.
I'm not sure if it has the so called combox and I didn't want to waste money buying bimmercode (this is the only coding I'd be interested on).
